Deadly collision in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier
A 29-year-old driver lost his life after a violent collision on Tuesday morning in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier.
At 7:00 am, police officers from the Jacques-Cartier RCM were called to a face-to-face collision involving two vehicles on the Fossambault road (367).
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, the first vehicle was traveling in a northerly direction and “for some reason” it would have deviated from its path to find itself in the opposite direction and hit another vehicle. It is the driver of the first car who died of his injuries in the middle of the day. He was in critical condition when transported by ambulance.
The driver of the second vehicle is an 18-year-old man, who has suffered minor injuries that are not life-threatening.
The Fossambault road was closed in both directions for part of the day, traffic was restored around noon.
Investigators traveled to the scene of the accident to reconstruct the scene. Mechanical checks will be done, as will an autopsy on the victim, to find out all the factors that could have led to such a collision.
For the moment, the identity of the victims is unknown. With Marc Allard
