Interprovincial mobilization to save an individual in distress

Police and firefighters from Gatineau and Ottawa rescued a person in distress Tuesday morning on the Portage Bridge.

If you went over the interprovincial infrastructure around 6:30, you probably noticed a significant number of autopatrol and red lorries. According to the City of Gatineau Police Service (SPVG), an individual jumped from the bridge into the Ottawa River.

Emergency services were quickly able to locate and rescue him. This person was taken to the hospital on a preventive basis to treat minor injuries.

There were obstacles to car traffic until around 7am.
