Narcotic: three searches and three arrests in the Bas-Saint-Laurent
The Sureté du Québec (SQ) Wednesday carried out three drug searches in two residences and a vehicle in Rimouski, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, which allowed it to put an end to the activities of a network of narcotics distribution.
The Major Crime Investigation Service and police officers of the RCM Rimouski-Neigette arrested three people, all from Rimouski, two men aged 36 and 38 and a 34-year-old woman.
The two men are scheduled to appear in court Thursday at the Mont-Joli Courthouse on various charges. The woman was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
The SQ reports that during one of the searches, the 36-year-old suspect attempted to flee the police in a vehicle. He was quickly intercepted and arrested after a short chase, but may face charges, including dangerous driving.
The searches resulted in the seizure of more than 20,000 methamphetamine tablets, approximately 130 grams of cocaine and 40 grams of hashish and over CAN $ 1,500.
The Sureté du Québec reports that the investigation of this case was initiated several months ago thanks to information provided by the public.
