Petition against rising registration fees for motorcycles will be accepted
The petition of 76,000 names against the increase in registration fees for motorcycles in Quebec, that the Baieriverain Martial Laberge and his group had to start from scratch for it to be accepted in the National Assembly, will finally be received as is by the Office of the Minister of Transport.
The Daily reported last week that the petition against increasing the registration of motorcycles in Quebec for 2019 was put online last December on the exchange.org website and collected on May 21 76 210 signatures, should be thrown in the trash before being posted on the website of the National Assembly, where the signatories would then have had to go to sign the document again.
In the days following the publication of the article, Martial Laberge received a call from the political attaché of the Minister of Transport François Bonnardel, who confirmed to him that they would finally receive the petition in progress.
“They told us that to save time, they would accept it as such. It’s a bit weird, but I’m really happy. It’s quite a turnaround, “says happily the one who had already started the process to resume his petition.
With his group, he had quickly created a non-profit entity, the Coalition of Motorcyclists of Quebec / Motorcyclists’ Defense Movement of Quebec, in order to make representations to the government. “All that the government asked us, we were ready to do,” said the one who intends to continue his fight so that the license plates of motorcyclists return at a rate that looks like that paid by motorists and other road users.
It was not possible to get a response from the department.
