Val-Bélair man arrested after one hour of siege
A 38-year-old man from Val-Bélair was arrested by the Tactical Intervention Group early Friday morning after more than an hour of siege in a spousal abuse case that was reported by his wife in the afternoon on Thursday.
It was around 14h Thursday afternoon that the lady had met the police in Quebec to complain that her spouse was violating. She said, however, that the man kept several firearms at home. That’s why it was the Tactical Intervention Group that went to the residence on rue Gaudar.
“Meanwhile, the lady was safe. The police erected the security perimeter around the residence around 11pm. They then contacted the individual who had left his house around midnight 55. He resisted his arrest and the police had to use the electric pulse weapon [Taser], “said Cyndi Paré, spokesman for the Quebec police.
The man was arrested for assaulting his spouse and could appear on Friday.
