Historical Thriller “Gareth Jones” film Director Agnieszka Holland co-production between Poland, Ukraine and the UK will take part in the main competition program of the 69-th Berlin international film festival.

The film “Gareth Jones” is based on the true story of Welsh journalist Gareth Jones, who in 1933 traveled to the Soviet Union to convey to the world community the truth about the Holodomor.

“This tape is significant not only for the Ukrainian cinema, but also for the whole country, and therefore its world premiere in the main competition of the festival will help to bring the world the truth about the Famine of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian nation”, — told the Chairman of Goskino Philip Ilyenko.

The Director of the film is the Chairman of the European film Academy, nominee for “Oscar”, BAFTA and winner of the Silver bear at the Berlinale 2017 Agnieszka Holland. The main roles in the film played by James Norton ( “War and peace”, “Happy valley”, “Mcmafia”), Vanessa Kirby ( “the Crown”, “Mission impossible: Folaut”, “Hobbes and the Show”) and Peter sarsgaard ( “Jackie “,” the Magnificent seven “,” an Education “).

The Berlinale will be held from 7 to 17 February. The release of the film in General Ukrainian Bicycle plan in the fall of 2019.
