Belarusian startup OneSoil launched an interactive map of agricultural fields, which holds 42 European countries and the United States, according to PRNewswire.
The map uses an algorithm using artificial intelligence to analyze satellite images to identify details of the state fields, type of crops grown and the stage of their aging.
Ukraine OneSoil Map is the second largest area of land after the United States: 35.9 million hectares with 2 million sites. In third place is France, the country’s 25.7 million hectares, divided into 7 million sites.
According to the company, in Ukraine the most active area seeded with corn (14.8 million ha), wheat (5.4 million ha) and grass (4 million hectares). The average plot size is 17.9 hectares, while the biggest field reaches 2 thousand hectares. By the total area of fields, is the leader of Odessa region (2.4 million hectares).
The creators used data from the European space Agency, as well as tools from Mapbox mapping platform and open source. Gathering information took more than three years, and on visualization — about six months. To date, the database contains over 60 million grounds, and the system is able to recognize about 20 species of agricultural crops.
Also OneSoil Map allows you to see how varied the field over the past three years – from 2016 to 2018.
