10 January in the Swiss Alps, an avalanche struck the hotel Säntis in the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The snow has demolished one of the walls of the building and filled the room.
The hotel Säntis is located at the foot of the mountains of Sentis, the highest peak in the Eastern Swiss Alpstein mountains, and for the last three days in the area fell to the feet of snow. According to local newspaper Tagblatt, as a result of incident four persons suffered minor injuries and bruises, they were taken to the hospital for further examination. One of the witnesses, who was sitting with his wife at the window of the restaurant in the hotel, reported that the first avalanche took all the snow that fell from the roof. Then there was a loud noise and snow crashed through the back part of the restaurant.
