Thirty police officers were mobilized for the operation, said Samuel Ducharme, spokesman for the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS). “The Ghosts Devils is the only club affiliated with the Hells Angels in Sherbrooke,” he says.
This type of gathering usually attracts highly criminalized individuals. This can cause a feeling of insecurity among the population. That’s why we decided to intervene. ”
In all, a dozen motorcycle clubs were represented. A hundred reports of offense were distributed, adds Mr. Ducharme. Four vehicles were towed for non-compliance.
“We checked out court orders, illegal mufflers and sanctioned permits.
An unfortunate event came to disrupt the event. Assault was committed on a police officer, notes Samuel Ducharme. “The wife of a biker sympathizer who was frustrated with her seized car jostled a police officer.”
“Apart from this event, the operation went well. The members of these groups know that the surveillance is assiduous when they come on our territory, “he says.
Other police forces were also present, including the RCMP, the Sûreté du Québec and the Régie de police de Memphrémagog.
