Teenager snagged on bike in Charlevoix succumbs to injury
The 14-year-old cyclist who was seriously injured in a collision and hit-and-run accident last week in Saint-Urbain, Charlevoix, died early Monday morning.
The teenager succumbed to his injuries in the last hours, said Claude Doiron, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The cyclist was caught by a vehicle last Thursday while riding his bicycle on Saint-Édouard Street (Route 381), which runs through the center of Saint-Urbain. The person driving the vehicle would then have proceeded without assisting the victim.
The SQ police then hooked on a 40-year-old woman who escaped after snapping up the cyclist. They also arrested a 43-year-old man for complicity after the fact.
The two 40-year-olds are due to appear Monday morning at the courthouse in La Malbaie. As the victim died, the driver could be charged with a hit and run offense that resulted in death.
