This week in Brussels will be a meeting of the NATO Military Committee, which will be attended by the Chairman of the General staff of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) Viktor Muzhenko.
According to “UNN”, 15-16 January 2019 at the headquarters of the Alliance held a regular meeting of the NATO Military Committee at the level of chiefs of General staffs. The main topics of the agenda of the meeting of top military leaders, will be the development of the security situation in the Euro-Atlantic region, the status of implementation of previous NATO summits to respond to the increasing aggressiveness of Russia and the situation in the middle East.
During the meeting it is expected the participation of General of the army of Ukraine, the chief of the General staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko.
We will remind, the former Deputy chief of armed forces General staff (2006-2010) Igor Romanenko said that Ukraine could join NATO in 5-10 years.
Meanwhile, in the Black sea will focus squadron of NATO. She needs to protect Ukrainian ships from attack by Russian security forces, when the court will again try to pass from the Black to the Azov sea.
President Petro Poroshenko ordered to prepare the draft amendments to the Constitution, which will enhance Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO and the European Union. The Alliance can open the door to membership for Ukraine after the annexation of Macedonia. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance does not need “permission” of the Russian authorities in the issue of Ukraine’s accession to a military bloc.
According to the survey by the Sociological group “Rating”, if a referendum on joining NATO was held in July 2018, joining the Alliance would be supported by 45% of Ukrainians.
