The blood group would have no effect on the risk of infection by the coronavirus

MONTREAL – The blood group appears to have no influence on the risk of being infected by the coronavirus, demonstrate new studies.

Previous research had suggested, for example, that people whose blood group is the “A” were more at risk than others.

Two new studies, one conducted at the Massachusetts general Hospital and the other hospital-Columbia Presbyterian New York, have instead found that there would be nothing.

People whose blood group is “O” are possibly a little less at risk of being infected, but the difference was so minimal that a researcher has warned that the concerned people should not rely on it to protect them from the virus.

The blood group “A” was a little less of a risk to need a mechanical aid for breathing, whereas it was the reverse for the “AB”. Researchers from Columbia Presbyterian, however, indicated that they relied on very few subjects from this last group.

The researchers from the Massachusetts general Hospital have found no difference.
