The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate decided on the resumption of the canonical status of the primates of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC KP) and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC), reports Orthodoxia.info.
According to sources, the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate lifted the anathema from the head of the UOC-KP Patriarch Filaret, and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Macarius, and recognized them as canonical. Both the Primate sent to the Ecumenical Patriarch your request for an appeal, which was accepted, after which it was decided.
Press Secretary of the UOC-KP yevstratiy Zorya, citing several sources reported that the Synod also recognized the illegal annexation of the Kyivan Metropolitanate of the Russian Church in 1686. According to him, now it is expected the official announcement of the decisions of the Holy Synod.
