The Japanese found hundreds of thousands of old copper coins

In Japan, found a cash hoard of XV — XVI centuries, which consists of hundreds of thousands of copper coins.

Reports robinzon.tv the coins were discovered during excavations in the Saitama Prefecture in the city of Hasuda. They dated the medieval “Era of warring provinces” (the Sengoku period), which ended with the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The find is a well-preserved jug with a height of 70 centimeters, in which there were 260 thousand copper coins. In the middle of each of the coin — the hole through which passed the rope.

It is noted that the treasure is exhibited in the vault of the cultural values of the city of Kumagaya. Archaeologists believe that the burial was done after the XV century in order to safeguard assets in troubled times.

The Sengoku period began in the fifteenth century, when the shoguns samurai clan Ashikaga lost control of the country. This led to the decentralization of state power and military confrontation between the rulers of the various provinces.
