The suggestions of the great manitou of the Festive!
While Baie-Saint-Paul is preparing to resonate with the joyous sounds of the 10th Festive!, We asked Clément Turgeon, its founder and general manager, to point out the groups to discover and the essential of its programming.
To celebrate its decade of existence, the festival has set up a floating stage on the Rivière du Gouffre, where Jérôme 50 and Bleu Jeans Bleu will be playing before the aperitif. The team also developed a series of “Clandestine Bar” with the Microbrasserie de Charlevoix: services delivered to 75 people in secret locations. The Sun will be on site until Sunday to tell you the highlights of this anniversary edition.
Friday 9:45 pm, place Desjardins
“This is our big catch this year. A New York band touring for its 20th anniversary and we are the only Canadian festival to have them. Single tickets are all sold. This is not to be missed, because they make truly unique services, with raw energy. They mix gipsy and punk music. It’s been six or seven years that we wanted to have them at the Festive! It’s a group tailored to the event. ”
Saturday noon, festive street
“In recent years, we have included fanfares in the program to make a nod to the carnival that was in Baie-Saint-Paul in the 80s. The Always Drinking Band comes from Barcelona. They make coverings of pop or rock tunes – Rage Against The Machine, the Sex Pistols, Nirvana, Outkast – in fanfare version. They will walk around the weekend on the festive street and make surprise appearances. ”
Thursday at midnight, Jardin de François
“We present Alexandra Stréliski in a beautiful public garden, in front of the hotel Le Germain, in the middle of the night. She will be alone at the piano and the concert will include projection. There is a small artificial lake and the scene will partially go on the water. This is the first time we are doing a show here, it will be truly unique. ”
Saturday 5:30 pm, Multi Room at the Hotel Le Germain
“They do a lot of shows, but this year they presented their opera-rock only Francofolies and Festive! It is a must of our 10th programming. They are 18, including the Hay Babies trio, Anna Frances Meyer from Les Deuxluxes and other guests. It’s a big deployment. ”
Saturday at midnight Black Sheep
“I always try to have a man-orchestra a little crazy at each edition. This one comes from Brazil. He mixes rock ‘n’ roll, garage rock and blues with country songs and traditional Brazilian music. It’s pretty unique. He has performed on several continents, but he has never been to Canada. I think it will be a great discovery. ”
Friday 3:15 pm, Hydro-Québec scene
“This is an Algerian band that is making its first Quebec tour thanks to our invitation. They played at Place D’Youville during the Quebec City Summer Festival and will be seen on a free show on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Street on Friday afternoon. I try to open people to world music. They are in my top 3 bands that I absolutely want to see this year. ”
