Whitney Houston could relive thanks to an album and a hologram AFP
The heirs of Whitney Houston have reached an agreement to try to revive the flame of the American singer, which could lead to the release of a posthumous album of unreleased tracks and a tour in the form of hologram.
The record company Primary Wave Music Publishing announced Monday an agreement with the heirs of the singer who died in 2012, under which she acquired 50% of its assets including the rights of its music, films and derivatives .
As the most awarded female artist of all time, Whitney Houston died at the age of 48 after an open battle against drug addiction. In ten years, she had gone from the darling of the Americans to the front page of the tabloid newspapers.
“Thanks to the World Primary Wave aura and its multitude of contacts, this partnership will bring the artistic talent and integrity of Whitney’s legacy to the stratosphere” with all that “she has left us so that we for a lifetime, “said Pat Houston, sister-in-law and executrix of the singer, quoted in a statement.
“Before his death, there was so much negativity around his name; it was no longer about music, “she told the New York Times. “People have forgotten how fantastic she is. They let all his personal problems prevail over why they loved him at first. ”
She explained to the newspaper that organizing a tour with a Whitney Houston hologram was the priority of this partnership, which could be followed by agreements on derivatives and perhaps even a show on Broadway.
“Whitney Houston is an incommensurable artist whose voice accompanies people in their daily lives to this day,” noted Lawrence Mestel, head of Primary Wave, specializing in catalogs of stars like Bob Marley, Smokey Robinson and Def Leppard.
